GB News: While already missing his charismatic leadership, Boris had to go

With the Tory leadership contest whittled down to four, philanthropist, business leader, Phones 4U founder and previous party donor John Caudwell told GB News’ Dan Wootton why he has been disappointed to date by the remaining candidates.

“I don’t see anybody that I would want to give my support to,” John said.

If Caudwell with a “gun to his head” had to write a £100,000 donation cheque to one of the four final hopefuls, Wootton pressed, which would it be?

“I think I’d be better going to the Monte Carlo Casino and sticking it on red,” Caudwell replied. “I cannot at this moment bet on any of those candidates.”

Caudwell was taking part in a panel debating the question “Was it a mistake to dump Boris Johnson?” He was joined on the panel by Spectator columnist Damien Reilly, former Conservative MP Louise Mensch, party activist Emily Hewitson and political commentator Albie Amankona.

Despite missing the same type of charisma in potential PM successors, Boris Johnson had to go, said Caudwell.
