There are 800,000 disabled children in the UK under the age of 16 – that equates to one in every 20 children. Despite these numbers, support for families with disabled children is grossly inadequate.

Out of every 20 families with disabled children, 19 say they do not have access to the equipment they need, and 80 percent say they have reached breaking point.

Caudwell Children’s vision is a world where all disabled children and their families have choice, opportunity, dignity and understanding.

To help achieve this, the charity’s mission is to transform the lives of disabled children, providing the life-changing support disabled children so desperately need.

The charity achieves this by providing access to the services, equipment, therapies and treatments disabled children need to lead happy, active and independent lives. There is also practical support, training and guidance for families as well as supported holidays and short breaks. The Caudwell Children motto is “whatever it takes”.

With administration and management costs covered by the generosity of founder and Chairman Emeritus, John Caudwell, and a commitment to transparency and efficiency, the charity can boast that 100% of all direct donations is used to support disabled children

As a result, any donation big or small makes a direct difference in the life of a disabled child.

Since being founded in 2000, Caudwell Children has helped more than 50,000 disabled children with over 650 medical conditions, providing in excess of £45 million’s worth of services.

Caudwell International Children’s Centre

Ten years in the conceiving, planning and creating at a cost of £18 million, over half of which was contributed by John Caudwell, the Caudwell International Children’s Centre (CICC) officially opened in May 2019.

It is the UK’s first independent facility dedicated to autism and neurodevelopmental disorders, purpose built in consultation with families to provide an environment that meets the needs of children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The Caudwell Children Autism Service (CCAS) focuses on assessment, intervention, support and research for children with autism and their families. This service at the Centre is delivered by a team of registered, multidisciplinary health professionals with specialist knowledge of autism and neurodevelopmental disorders.

The Centre, located on the Keele University Innovation Park in Staffordshire, is also the head office for Caudwell Children and all of its other services, offering opportunities for volunteers, students and professionals.
