With outrage mounting around the latest lockdown party revelation, and ahead of Boris Johnson’s statement to the House of Commons at this week’s PMQs, John Caudwell spoke BBC Radio 5 Live about what the Prime Minister and the Conservative Party should do next.
Though not ordinarily a political party donor, John donated £500,000 to the Conservatives under Boris Johnson’s leadership at the 2019 General Election.
Speaking to 5 Live presenter Rachel Burden, John said that, in the face of evidence of a party in Downing Street’s garden to which 100 people were invited and the PM himself attended, Johnson “needs to hold his hands up and apologise to the country and put himself at the mercy of the Tory party.”
He added:
“It’s a very very difficult couple of months for the Conservative Party. They’re not behaving with proper ethical and moral standards. That needs absolutely sorting out and ruthlessly sorting out.”
