Ahead of Boris Johnson’s statement to the House of Commons at Prime Minister’s Questions about the mounting outrage around the latest lockdown party revelation at Downing Street, business leader, philanthropist and Phones 4U founder John Caudwell led the coverage on LBC’s morning news programme with Nick Ferrari.
As someone who donated £500,000 to the Conservatives under Johnson’s leadership at the 2019 election, John was asked how concerned he was by the current situation. The detail of the party invite, instructing guests to bring their own alcohol, was one that stood out for John.
“The stupidity of that, that they should think they could get away with that sort of behaviour when the rest of the country is in a devastating lockdown is beyond belief to me. I just find it extraordinary.”
Caudwell went on to explain that he wants to see a major ethical cleanup at Westminster. “People are getting fed up with the politics in this country not being as clean as it should be,” he said.
