Hosted by John and Modesta Vzesniauskaite at the Monte Carlo Bay Resort, on Saturday 25 September 2021, this year’s sixth annual Butterfly Ball Monaco helped raise desperately needed post-pandemic funds for Caudwell Children.
Through tickets, donations and the charity auction – featuring exclusive lots including an original David Yarrow photograph, a week’s sailing on John’s superyacht Titania and stays in his Whistler ski lodge – the event raised more than €1.52 million for Caudwell Children’s services for disabled children and their families in the UK.
This is the highest amount raised to date in the Monaco ball’s history
John attended the event while still recovering from a serious cycling accident. His black-tie attire included a sling covered with British Airways fragile stickers, which also inspired to post a sponsorship proposal on social media on his way to the ball.
.@Vzesniauskaite and I are off to the ball!

And I would like to thank @British_Airways for sponsoring my fragile stickers. 🚫 Hopefully, these will keep my broken bones safe tonight.
Would BA also like to sponsor @caudwellkids? We could transform a lot of lives together! 🦋💜 pic.twitter.com/l96T9oZ4Pj
In addition to patrons and supporters of Caudwell Children, guests at this year’s Butterfly Ball Monaco included Dame Shirley Bassey, Duncan and Nigora Bannatyne and explorer Johan Ernst.
