Talk Radio: ‘I want to see us cutting off all purchases of Russian gas’

As Putin’s assault on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv and other cities intensifies, John Caudwell joined Ian Collins on Talk Radio to discuss different aspects of Europe’s first major war since the 1940s.

Is the UK doing enough to crack down on Russian oligarchs? What further sanctions should be considered?

John is pushing hard for the West to completely boycott Russian energy exports in order to cut off funding for Putin’s war machine. All European countries should work together on this, pooling resources and dramatically cutting back on energy usage – including urging consumers to turn off heating in their homes. What does John say to those who think living in cold homes is impractical?

John said: “I think it’s very impractical for us to accept that the Ukrainian people are being slaughtered. That for me comes above and beyond any self-interest of anybody in the country, including my own. I would join in whatever action was necessary to contribute to the cause.

“When you think about the Ukrainians, it’s heart-breaking. An innocent, democratic country being slaughtered by Putin… The quicker Putin’s downfall comes, the better. But I do suspect, unfortunately, that it is some way off because he has such ironclad control.”
