Speaking live to GB News from his attendance at the new Government’s first International Investment Summit, business leader, philanthropist and Phones 4U founder John Caudwell told political editor Christopher Hope that he was surprised but enthusiastic about the direction Labour is taking the economy.
After a lifetime of voting Conservative, and donating £500,000 to the Tories at the 2019 election, Caudwell voted for Labour for the first time at this year’s General Election. How had he found the day, held at London’s Guildhall and attended by 300 of the world’s top CEOS?
“I found it an excellent day,” said Caudwell.
“I’m extremely enthusiastic about what I’ve heard. There’s a huge amount of positive rhetoric and every bit in line with growth and [tackling] climate change. Now, the big challenge, of course… is the implementation.
“But there’s no doubting the drive of this party to make the difference to Britain, to make Britain stronger economically, and as a result, to be able to use that revenue to improve everybody’s lives.”
