As the Government’s Homes for Ukraine scheme launched, business leader, philanthropist and Phones 4U founder John Caudwell spoke to The Andrew Pierce Show, the Daily Mail’s popular daily topical debate podcast, about why he decided to offer a home to Ukrainian refugees.
How moved was John by watching heartbreaking scenes from Ukraine in the news?
John commented:
“I was heartbroken on the one hand and so angry with Putin on the other. But the issue is, it’s not about heartbreak or anger, we need to do something and, as soon as I started thinking about the plight of these refugees and the amazing job that Poland and other countries in that area are doing while being swamped with refugees and welcoming them with open arms, the more I felt that we need to do a lot more in Britain.”
