Bloomberg TV: ‘What any international investor wants is consistency’

As the 2023 Conservative Party conference drew to a close in Manchester, with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s announcement that the Government will abandon the HS2 high-speed rail project, business leader, philanthropist, founder of Phones 4U and former Conservative Party donor John Caudwell shared his views on Bloomberg TV.

Presenter Francine Lacqua asked:

How much do Government U-turns – on net zero, HS2 or other matters – affect business? Do they make it less likely international investors will invest in the UK? Do they risk investors actively leaving the UK? And just how impressive is the Labour Party’s pro-business, pro-environment stance under Keir Starmer?

Labour’s rhetoric is good and Caudwell doesn’t rule them out, but “there’s a big difference between electioneering and implementation”.
